Virginia Awards

Thanks to generous support from Kaiser Permanente. Fire Up Your Feet will award more than $7,000 to Virginia schools during the April 13-May 15, 2015 Fire Up Your Feet Activity Challenge.

Final Challenge Awards: Final Challenge Awards are calculated by the following formula:

Total number of students, parents/guardians and school staff that tracked during the Challenge period, divided by school enrollment.

Northern Virginia*

1     $1,800 first place award

1     $800 second place award

1     $250 third place awards

All Virginia counties outside of Northern Virginia**

1     $1,800 first place award

1     $800 second place award

1    $250 third place awards

Other Challenge Awards 

1    $500 Let's Move Active Schools Award: Schools that have registered with and developed an Action Plan for Let's Move Active Schools and have at least 10 participants tracking activity for the Fire Up Your Feet Challenge will be entered in a drawing for a $500 award.

1   $100 Small School or Runner Up Award: Schools with less than 100 students are eligible to compete for all awards, except for the 1st, 2nd and 3rd place Final Challenge Awards. This award will be given to the school with the most students, parents/guardians, and school staff tracking during the Challenge Period, divided by total school enrollment.

Weekly Challenge Awards 

  • 3-2-1 Blastoff Award: Any K-8 school with 20 participants tracking at least one activity during the first week of the Challenge will be entered into a drawing for three (3) $200 awards. 
  • Reflect and Reward $100 Drawing: During the last week of the Challenge, participants are invited to submit a short paragraph about how Fire Up Your Feet has benefitted their school. All submissions will be entered into a drawing for a $100 award. Please send paragraphs to 

National PeopleForBikes Awards

In honor of National Bike to School Day on May 6, 2015, we are pleased to once again offer PeopleForBikes awards honoring dedication to bicycling to school. A $500 PeopleForBikes award will go to the top three schools nationally with the highest percentage of participants tracking bicycle activity. A total of three $500 awards are available; limit one award per state/region.

 *Northern Virginia includes the City of Alexandria, Arlington County, Prince William County, Fairfax County and Loudoun County.

**All Virginia counties not listed under the eligible Northern Virginia Counties are eligible to compete for awards being offered to the rest of the state.
